Officials have no latitude in replacing a Check From Behind penalty, Head-Contact penalty or violent stick infraction with a lesser penalty. The GTHL Board has provided a directive to all officials that states when an official is conflicted about the severity of a call, the official should error on the side of safety and the more severe penalty should be assessed. The phrase “Protect Our Kids” is being used at every GTHL Officiating clinic to enforce the GTHL’s commitment to a safe environment. The GTHL fully supports the directives set by Hockey Canada and the Ontario Hockey Federation and our Officials are expected to follow these directives.
